Cora was crushing on Alex from the beginning. It was easy then because she could avoid him completely. Things changed for the worst when Amy bit Coraline. Now she was stuck with them both. Capable of getting 'inside' his mind the attraction grew but so did her awareness of his feelings for Amy. She felt a jealousy she couldn't escape because Amy was the Alphena and she had no choice but to follow her. Her bitterness -which she blames on the incident- actually comes from her confusion and disappointment. She knows he'll never feel the same and she also knows she shouldn't. She's convinced she's betraying her sister but she knows that these feelings are completely out of her control.
